ENTREPRENEURSHIP - The Key to Unemployment in South Africa
For Many years people have looked past entrepreneurship and somehow neglected it. Medicine, Science and engineering were noted as fields of importance and one could not become "anything" without them. Not anymore.
Employers are in need of people who have an entrepreneurial mindset.
Companies are flooded with employees. Recent economic recessions have seen many professionals jobless and stranded. If professional are given the boot, where will students who are eagerly waiting to graduate find themselves?
This is where entrepreneurship comes in. Having some kind of work experienced is a great stepping stone in starting your own business. Firstly you have to handle challenges better than someone has no work experience. You know what clients expect and the right terms and vocabulary to use. Also the fact that you have a qualification is reason for clients to trust you and your business.
To all employees who are tired of being at the mercy of your boss and not being recognised for your contribution to that business, look at this as opportunity to be your own boss in the field you specialise in.
In 2012 research indicated that 35% of the youth was unemployed. A point to worry, don't you think? Why are the youth not taking risks and getting into entrepreneurship? They have my years ahead of themselves to try again if they fail. The majority of the youth don't have houses and cars and therefore have little to lose.
I can almost imagine what your next question is going to be. "Where will I get financing?"
A question small Businesses across the world ask. In South Africa the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) heard our cry and have responded by introducing Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA) in 2004. This agency not only provides funds to Small Businesses but they develop and also help to promote Small businesses among the youth throughout South Africa.
There are many institutes of this kind in South Africa. Go out and find them and knowledge yourselves well in this regard.
